What to Check After Exporting a Family Photo Slideshow as a Video
By ImgHeal · Updated
The presentation played correctly while you edited it. Now check the actual movie. A successful export message does not show whether every family photograph and caption survived the conversion as intended.

Keep the editable project and identify the movie
Save the presentation before exporting, then give the movie a clear version name and destination. Record which project produced it. Wait until conversion has completed before copying or sending the output. Keep the source pictures and editable presentation because a finished movie is a different delivery format; it cannot replace every editing or archival use of those source materials.
Check the choices that control duration
PowerPoint's video export uses timing and narration choices described in its export guidance. Review those choices before starting conversion. Afterward, compare a short slide, a long caption, and a media slide with the intended presentation. Check whether a default duration was used where you expected recorded timings. Correct the project or export settings rather than attempting to explain away an unexpectedly rushed family name.
Watch the entire completed file
Open the saved movie in an ordinary video player, independently of the editing application. Watch the beginning, every photograph, and the ending at normal speed. Check missing images, awkward transitions, clipped captions, unexpected blank frames, and sound where sound was intended. Scrubbing only through attractive still frames can miss a brief omission or an uncomfortable pause between two important photographs.
Test the transferred version too
Copy the checked movie through the destination you will actually use, then play that received copy. Confirm that its length and ending match the reviewed version and that it opens on the recipient's equipment. Keep an agreed fallback if that device cannot play it. Any later change to captions, audio, or slide order requires a new export and a new review; the earlier movie does not update automatically.
Check the delivered result
- Identify the source project and completed movie.
- Review timing and narration choices.
- Watch the entire received movie independently.

Questions about this restoration task
Can I replace the presentation with its movie export?
Keep both when you need future edits. The movie is a viewing delivery; the presentation and original photos retain different information and editing possibilities.
