Frequently Asked Conservation Inquiries

Essential information regarding our photographic conservation methods, data ethics, and folio balances.

I.

Conservation Standards & Fidelity

What types of photographic physical damage are treatable?

ImgHeal is engineered specifically for historical and vintage prints. It repairs surface fissures, scratches, albumen paper tears, fold lines, scan dust, faded silver contrast, chemical yellowing, and subtle portrait detail blur.

Will the restoration compromise original photographic authenticity?

Never. Our restoration pipeline prioritizes historical veracity over synthetic perfection. Missing emulsion and tears are in-painted using surrounding film grain patterns, ensuring your ancestors appear natural rather than artificially altered.

How long does the archival reconstruction take?

Most scans complete processing in 5 to 15 seconds, producing uncompressed preview comparison files immediately.

What scanning resolution and formats are recommended?

We accept JPEG, PNG, and WebP files up to 10MB. For optimal results, flatbed scan prints at 600 DPI or higher to preserve delicate emulsion grain.
