Processing happens locally in this browser tab. No upload is made. Browser support and available memory can affect large images.

Balance image quality and file size

Move the quality control to choose how the browser encodes your JPG or WebP copy. Lower quality settings often produce smaller files, but the final size depends on image content, dimensions, and the browser encoder.

Compression does not always make a file smaller. A source image that is already compressed may produce a larger result, so compare the displayed sizes before using the download.

Check the result before downloading

The selected image stays in the browser while the output file is created with the built-in canvas encoder. The original is unchanged, and the tool does not upload it to a server.

  • Choose JPG or WebP output.
  • Adjust encoding quality from 20% to 100%.
  • Review the original and output sizes before saving the copy.

Frequently asked questions

Will compression always make my image smaller?

No. The result depends on the source format, image content, dimensions, browser, and quality setting. Compare the output size with the source before downloading.

Can I compress a PNG image?

Yes. You can create a JPG or WebP copy from a PNG. These formats do not preserve PNG transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.

Does the compressor upload my photo?

No. Encoding happens in your browser using a canvas. The selected file is not sent to ImgHeal for compression.
