How to Prepare Restored Photos for a Family Slideshow
By ImgHeal · Updated
Keep a consistent viewing layout while preserving full portraits and honest version labels.
Choose the display format
Check the slideshow's screen ratio and resolution before exporting images. Wide screens and portrait photographs rarely match naturally. Plan borders or a background rather than stretching portraits or cutting off heads to fill the frame.
Use consistent caption placement
Keep captions readable and away from important image areas. Include uncertain dates and a brief restoration or colorization label where relevant. Use stable identifiers in project notes so a corrected caption can be traced to the right source.
Review the whole presentation
Test the sequence on the intended screen and check crops, orientation, text size, and transitions. Open full-quality source files separately when identity is hard to judge. Archive the image list and captions with the project so another relative can revise it later.
Check before you finish
- Use borders rather than stretching portraits.
- Test captions on the intended display.
