Why a Restored Photo Can Become Blurry in a Word Document
By ImgHeal · Updated
A clear restoration can look disappointing after it enters a document. Word's picture handling, layout size, and export settings may be involved. Compare the retained image file before running another enhancement or using the document's extracted picture as your new master.
Compare the image outside the document
Open the retained restoration file and check its actual dimensions. Compare it with the document at a similar displayed subject size. An enlarged layout can expose limitations that were less visible in a small preview. Also distinguish the editing window from a final PDF or print, because each view can use different presentation settings and may not reveal the same quality.
Inspect supported picture-quality settings
Read Microsoft's guidance for the specific desktop or web version you use. Picture compression controls and their scope differ across applications and versions. Where available, preserve suitable image quality for the document before adding final photographs. Turning off future compression does not guarantee that an image already reduced inside the file regains its earlier detail.
Replace a degraded embedded copy from the source
If the document contains a reduced version, work on a duplicate document and insert the retained image again using the appropriate settings. Keep the intended layout size reasonable for the available pixels. Do not repeatedly save the embedded picture out and place it back into the document, because that can obscure which generation you are using. Retain its caption and source identifier throughout replacement.
Check the final document export
Open the finished PDF or other delivery format separately and inspect several photographs, including one with fine detail. Use a small print test if the document is meant to be printed. Keep the restored image files alongside the document as separate masters. ImgHeal can improve a chosen still-image source, but it should not be asked to compensate for a document workflow that keeps reducing the finished pictures.
Check before restoring
- Compare the retained photo outside Word.
- Check version-specific picture-quality settings.
- Inspect the final document export independently.
