How to Prepare Restored Images for a Family Memory Book
By ImgHeal · Updated
Keep page layout, caption accuracy, and source records coordinated through the print workflow.
Plan image placement
Get the book provider's page dimensions, margins, and bleed requirements. Use duplicate delivery images and keep important faces away from folds and trim edges. Do not resize every source to one shape before knowing where it will appear.
Attach context to each placement
Maintain a page list with image identifiers, captions, dates, and restoration labels. Verify names against the family index. If a picture is colorized, make that interpretation clear rather than allowing a polished book to imply verified original color.
Review a proof
Check the exported or printed proof for missing captions, automatic crops, and tonal shifts. Inspect spreads where a face crosses the center. Archive the final layout, delivery images, and source index together so a corrected edition can be produced later.
Check before you finish
- Keep faces away from trim and folds.
- Proof captions and images as complete spreads.
