How to Make an Upload Copy from a TIFF Master Scan
By ImgHeal · Updated
Keep the archival scan while exporting a file a restoration uploader can accept.
Retain the master intact
TIFF masters may be large and may use settings a browser tool does not support. Preserve the delivered scan and record its dimensions. If it contains multiple pages or layers, identify the image you intend to export before making a smaller copy.
Export with suitable software
Open the master in an application that supports it and export a compatible still image format. Choose dimensions based on the upload requirements. Do not overwrite the TIFF or discard it because a JPEG derivative looks similar at a small screen size.
Check the derivative
Compare the export with the master at matched scale, especially pale tones, dark regions, and fine text. Confirm its size is accepted by the destination. Keep the restored output linked to both the upload derivative and its original master scan.
Check before you finish
- Preserve the original TIFF scan.
- Link the upload derivative to its master.
