How to Separate Source, Working, and Delivery Photo Files

By ImgHeal · Updated

Use a simple folder structure that reduces accidental overwrites and mistaken sharing.

Define each folder's role

Keep original scans and camera files in a source folder. Put editing projects and trials in a working folder, and accepted viewing copies in a delivery folder. Use stable identifiers across all three rather than unrelated names.

Control the handoff

Copy the chosen output into delivery only after checking its identity, crop, and file format. Include captions or an index when context matters. Do not use a large mixed export folder as the shared album merely because it contains the latest files.

Back up the complete project

Include sources, essential project files, accepted outputs, and the index in the backup plan. A delivery-only backup may lose the ability to revise the restoration. Test opening files after copying the folder structure to another device.

Check before you finish

  • Give source and delivery folders distinct roles.
  • Back up context as well as images.

Try a restoration on a copy of your photo

Keep the original scan. Upload a separate digital copy, review ImgHeal’s generated result, and decide whether it suits your needs.
