How to Share a Photo with a Caption That Stays Attached
By ImgHeal · Updated
Pair a restored image with a readable caption file and stable identifier when the receiving service may remove embedded metadata.

Use a shared identifier
Give the image and caption the same photograph reference, with distinct file extensions or clear role suffixes. Include the filename in the caption itself. Do not rely on the two files staying adjacent in a downloads folder. A recipient should be able to reconnect them after sorting, copying, or opening only one part of the delivery.
Write a portable description
Include a short supported identification, source reference, uncertainty, and restoration note in ordinary readable text. Keep private research and contact information out of the public caption. Embedded metadata can be useful too, but different destinations may handle it differently. A separate readable record provides another route to the meaning of the image.
Test the received package
Send the two files using the intended delivery method and inspect a downloaded copy. Check that names, accents, and line breaks survive and that the caption still names the correct image. If packaged in an archive, verify extraction. Keep a record of the delivered version so later caption corrections can identify exactly what recipients should replace.
Check before finishing
- Image and caption share an identifier.
- The description is readable outside one application.
- The received files were checked together.
