How to Document Photo Restoration Decisions
By ImgHeal · Updated
Record significant crops, repairs, color choices, and reconstructions so future viewers can understand the derivative.
Define the record
Start a short edit note with the source identifier, software or service, date, and purpose. List only meaningful changes rather than every click.
Apply the system consistently
Describe areas where detail was reconstructed, faces changed, inscriptions removed, or color inferred. Link reference photographs and family statements used to guide the work.
Test that another person can use it
Store the note beside the finished file and inventory entry. Confirm that a person who did not make the edit can distinguish source evidence from creative choices.
Check before you finish
- Link the note to the source ID.
- Describe reconstructed content.
- Record references used.
