How to Check a Child's Face After Photo Restoration

By ImgHeal · Updated

Review age, expression, and small facial proportions so an edit does not make a child look older or different.

Identify what defines the person

Children's faces have subtle proportions, and a soft source may not show adult-like contours, eyelashes, or skin texture. Note the visible expression, cheek shape, hairline, and tooth development before editing.

Compare the edited portrait

Compare the eyes, mouth, and distance between features. Look for sharpened lines that add age, symmetrical features that were not present, or teeth and dimples that the source does not support.

Choose a faithful version

Use another dated photograph only as a reference, not as a replacement face. Choose a restrained result and keep the original scan with any family identification.

Check before you finish

  • Check that the child did not appear older.
  • Review teeth and eye shape closely.
  • Keep dated reference photos separate.
