How to Check Faces After AI Photo Restoration
By ImgHeal
Compare identity, expression, and small facial details before accepting a restoration.
Use matched views
Place the original and result side by side at the same size. Start with the face as a whole before zooming in. A sharper-looking portrait can subtly change the distance between the eyes, the jaw outline, or the direction of a smile.
Check distinctive features
Compare eyelids, teeth, eyebrows, ears, moles, and glasses. Ask a relative who knows the person to review the result when possible. Another photograph can help check identity, but differences in age, pose, and lighting mean it is not a perfect reference.
Reject invented certainty
If the source face is only a few pixels wide, a detailed replacement cannot be verified from that source. Keep a softer version or share the improved image with a clear explanation of the uncertainty. Avoid overwriting the only surviving scan.
Before you finish
- Match image scale before comparing.
- Check expression and distinctive features.
- Reject convincing but unsupported facial changes.
