Why Does a Restored Photo Look Different on a Phone?

By ImgHeal · Updated

Compare display brightness, color management, scaling, and file versions before changing the master.

Identify where the problem begins

Confirm that the phone and computer are showing the same filename and download, not a thumbnail or messaging copy. Set both displays to reasonable brightness and turn off temporary color filters.

Create a safe diagnostic copy

Compare at similar physical size and inspect embedded color profiles. Export an sRGB share copy when browser and phone consistency matters, while keeping the master unchanged.

Verify the corrected file

Check the file on a third display or make a small print before editing color repeatedly. No two screens match perfectly, so optimize for the intended destination.

Check before you finish

  • Confirm the exact same file.
  • Disable temporary display filters.
  • Use an sRGB share copy.
