How to Review a Multi-Generation Family Portrait
By ImgHeal · Updated
Keep age differences, family resemblance, and each person's expression intact in a restored group.
Identify what defines the person
Identify every person you can before editing and note approximate ages at the time of the photograph. Children, parents, and grandparents should not receive the same skin texture or level of facial detail.
Compare the edited portrait
Review one face at a time, then the group as a whole. Check whether age lines vanished, children became older, or family members became unnaturally alike. Also inspect hands and overlaps between people.
Choose a faithful version
Ask relatives to review named individuals beside the source. Save a labeled identification key separately and choose the version with the fewest identity changes.
Check before you finish
- Record names and ages first.
- Review each person individually.
- Check age differences after editing.
