How to Review a Repair Across a Folded Portrait
By ImgHeal · Updated
Check facial identity where a crease interrupts the most sensitive parts of a portrait.
Map the visible interruption
Inspect where the fold crosses eyes, mouth, or jaw. Separate the bright crease from nearby surviving facial information. Look for another photograph of the person to help with identity review, while allowing for differences in age, expression, and pose.
Compare shape before smoothness
After editing, compare the distance between features and the direction of the gaze. A smooth repair can still create a different eyelid or smile. Avoid judging success solely by whether the crease line has disappeared.
Keep a restrained alternative
Save a softer edit when the more detailed repair changes the person. Ask a familiar relative to review both versions alongside the source. Label uncertain reconstruction and retain the creased source so later reviewers can revisit the decision.
Check before you finish
- Check expression across the crease.
- Compare a restrained alternative.
