How to Prepare Old Photos for a Digital Picture Frame
By ImgHeal · Updated
Check the frame's aspect ratio and cropping behavior before resizing a whole collection.
Read the device requirements
Check accepted formats, recommended dimensions, orientation, and storage limits for the specific frame. Do not assume every device displays the entire image. Test with one landscape and one portrait before exporting the full collection.
Choose fit rather than distortion
Use proportional resizing and decide whether borders are acceptable when the photograph's shape differs. Check automatic zoom or crop modes on the frame. Keep faces and meaningful captions away from edges that the device may conceal.
Inspect on the actual device
Review brightness, orientation, and timing with the exported files. Fine text that looks readable on a computer may be too small at the frame's viewing distance. Keep full-resolution masters and a separate device-ready folder for future updates.
Check before you finish
- Test portrait and landscape files first.
- Check the device's automatic crop mode.
