How to Plan Access to a Family Photo Archive
By ImgHeal · Updated
Decide who can find, edit, share, and inherit the collection without exposing private material.
Define the record
List the archive's locations, account owners, devices, passwords or recovery methods, and categories of restricted content. Do not put secrets directly into a widely shared inventory.
Apply the system consistently
Assign at least one trusted backup person and document how they can access the collection when needed. Separate public galleries from source masters and private notes.
Test that another person can use it
Test access with a small recovery exercise and update the plan after account, device, or family changes. Make sure access does not depend entirely on one person's memory.
Check before you finish
- Name a trusted backup person.
- Separate public and private areas.
- Test the recovery path.
