Photo Upload Limits: MB, Pixels, and Aspect Ratio
By ImgHeal · Updated
Read a form's requirements precisely before changing the wrong image property.
Separate the three checks
A file-size limit measures bytes; a dimension limit measures pixel width or height; an aspect-ratio rule concerns shape. Write down each requirement from the receiving form. A file can satisfy two and still fail the third.
Make the smallest needed change
Compress a delivery copy for bytes, resize for dimensions, and crop or pad for shape. Keep proportions locked unless you intentionally want distortion. Work from the master rather than applying unrelated transformations until the form accepts something.
Verify against the real form
Open the export and check its reported properties, then inspect the uploaded preview. If the form still rejects it, use its exact error message to guide the next step. Keep the high-quality original for other uses with different requirements.
Check before you finish
- Record byte, dimension, and shape rules separately.
- Use the form's actual error message.
