How to Align Digital Copies of Separated Photo Pieces
By ImgHeal · Updated
Reassemble the image digitally without applying tape or glue to the original fragments.
Keep fragments identifiable
Use existing safe captures or seek specialist help for fragile pieces. Give each fragment a related identifier and keep the full uncropped captures. Do not physically attach the originals to simplify the digital work.
Align visible evidence
In an editor, place copies on separate layers and match surviving edges, scene lines, and scale. Distinguish a gap from an overlap. Avoid stretching one piece until a face fits if that distorts the rest of the fragment.
Retain an assembly reference
Save the layered assembly before filling gaps. Compare repaired boundaries for duplicated features and shifted objects. Keep a labeled version that shows which parts came from each fragment and which parts were digitally reconstructed.
Check before you finish
- Keep physical fragments unattached.
- Save an assembly before filling gaps.
