Why Is One Corner of a Photo Scan Blurry?
By ImgHeal · Updated
Check capture consistency before sharpening an uneven scan.
Compare the whole print
Inspect the center and all four corners at the same zoom. Determine whether the physical print is also soft in those areas. A tilted or lifted source, scanner setup, or an originally out-of-focus photograph can produce different kinds of unevenness.
Make a controlled second capture
For a stable print that can be handled safely, try another placement without pressing it flat. Compare the same image detail, not just the same screen corner. Follow the scanner instructions and avoid repeated movement of a fragile print.
Choose capture over aggressive repair
If a new capture resolves more source detail, use it instead of sharpening the soft version. When the softness belongs to the original photograph, edit with restraint. A strong AI repair in one corner can introduce a different visual character from the rest of the scene.
Check before you finish
- Compare all corners with the print.
- Prefer a clearer capture over stronger sharpening.
