How to Review Skin Texture in a Restored Photo
By ImgHeal · Updated
Balance damage cleanup with real age lines, freckles, and natural portrait texture.
Identify what defines the person
List the marks that are clearly damage and the features that may belong to the person. Wrinkles, freckles, moles, and film grain can all be mistaken for spots by an aggressive cleanup.
Compare the edited portrait
Inspect cheeks, forehead, and hands at normal size and close up. Waxy smoothness, repeated pores, or erased expression lines suggest too much processing, while strong sharpening can create false texture.
Choose a faithful version
Choose a version that still looks like the same print and person. Keep the source available so future viewers can distinguish surviving features from generated surface detail.
Check before you finish
- Separate damage from personal features.
- Check at normal size and close up.
- Avoid waxy or invented texture.
