How to Prepare a Restored Photo for a Canvas Wrap

By ImgHeal · Updated

Protect faces and edges from the canvas fold while accounting for texture and enlargement.

Define the finished object

Measure the front size, wrap depth, and printer's bleed requirement. Decide whether the edges should mirror, extend, use a color border, or crop into the photograph.

Prepare a dedicated print file

Create a canvas-specific file and keep people, hands, text, and meaningful borders inside the safe front area. Preview all four wrapped edges, especially in group portraits.

Check a proof before the final order

Order a smaller proof or inspect the provider's preview closely. Canvas texture can soften fine facial detail, so do not over-sharpen the master to compensate.

Check before you finish

  • Confirm wrap and bleed dimensions.
  • Keep important details on the front.
  • Inspect all four edge previews.
