How to Copy a Photo Through an Album Sleeve
By ImgHeal · Updated
Reduce glare from a plastic album sleeve while avoiding risky removal of a stuck or fragile print.
Plan the capture
If a photograph slides out freely and is stable, a separate safe capture may be possible. If it adheres to the sleeve or page, leave it in place. Do not use heat or solvents to release it.
Make a complete digital master
Set the album securely and photograph the page from directly above. Move broad lights to the sides until glare clears the subject. A dark cloth behind the camera can reduce reflections from the room.
Prepare the working copy
Save a full-page view and a close crop. Check the result for reflections that resemble pale damage or cover facial detail. Keep notes about the sleeve so later viewers understand what the capture shows.
Check before you finish
- Do not force out a stuck print.
- Move the light rather than the album surface.
- Record that the image was copied through plastic.
