How to Compare Two AI-Colorized Versions of a Photo

By ImgHeal · Updated

Evaluate color consistency, source fidelity, and documented evidence instead of choosing only the brightest result.

Collect color evidence

Open both colorized files beside the same monochrome source at equal size. Note whether they used the same restoration and crop; otherwise color is not the only variable.

Create the colorized version

Compare skin, hair, clothing, signs, vegetation, and shadows one region at a time. Look for color bleeding, inconsistent lighting, and confident colors in areas with no evidence.

Record what remains uncertain

Choose the version that best matches known references and preserves image detail. Keep the alternative and record why one was selected, because a pleasing palette is not proof of accuracy.

Check before you finish

  • Use the same crop and source.
  • Compare regions one at a time.
  • Record why a version was chosen.
