How to Colorize an Old Wedding Photograph
By ImgHeal · Updated
Use family memories and surviving details to guide clothing, flowers, and skin tones without claiming certainty.
Collect color evidence
Ask relatives about the dress, suit, flowers, venue, and season. Check other photographs from the event if they exist. A white-looking dress in monochrome may not have been pure white, and decorations can be impossible to infer.
Create the colorized version
Colorize a duplicate after any damage repair. Review skin tones separately from clothing and background so one correction does not create a cast across the whole scene.
Record what remains uncertain
Share the colorized image beside the original and note which colors came from family evidence. Treat all remaining colors as a visual interpretation.
Check before you finish
- Gather event-specific references.
- Review people and setting separately.
- Label inferred colors.
