How to Check a Photo's Actual Pixel Dimensions
By ImgHeal · Updated
Use file information to plan resizing without relying on screen zoom or file size.
Read width and height
Open the image information or properties view in a photo application. Record width and height in pixels rather than inches alone. Screen display size depends on zoom and scaling, so a large-looking preview may still come from a small image.
Inspect before and after export
Check the source and downloaded output separately. A converter or destination can resize an image during processing. If dimensions changed unexpectedly, review export settings instead of repeatedly enlarging the already reduced file.
Use the values for a purpose
Compare the dimensions with the destination's requirements or your proposed print size. Pixel count establishes capacity for placement, not proof of sharp captured detail. Inspect the image itself before choosing an enlargement or accepting an AI-restored result.
Check before you finish
- Record pixels rather than screen size.
- Check downloaded output dimensions too.
