How to Prepare a Before-and-After Photo Comparison for Print

By ImgHeal · Updated

Use matched scale and honest labels so the page shows what the edit actually changed.

Match the two images

Use the same crop and subject scale for source and result. Do not make the restored side larger or artificially brighter just to emphasize improvement. If framing changed during editing, explain that difference rather than hiding it in the layout.

Add concise version labels

Label the source scan and edited copy, noting colorization or reconstruction where relevant. Include an image identifier and a short editing note. Avoid performance claims based solely on a visual comparison of one selected example.

Proof the page

Print or preview at final size and check caption readability and facial detail. Keep margins and image boundaries consistent. Retain the source files separately so the comparison page does not become the only available copy of either image.

Check before you finish

  • Match crop and scale on both sides.
  • Label colorization and reconstruction.
